250: 63% decreases
1.
Calculate 250 x (1 - 63 %) = 250 x 37 % = 92.5
or
2.
% remaining is 100 - 63 = 37
so 37% is 37/100
37% of 250 = 250 x 37 / 100 = 92.5
subtract 5 from both sides of the = sign, then divide both sides by 2/3
2/3q + 5 = 3/4
2/3q + 5 - 5 = 3/4 - 5
2/3q = -17/4
2/3q (3/2) = (-17/4)(3/2)
q = -51/8
4(y+3) = 6 –> 4y+12 = 6 –> 4y=-6 –> y = -6/4 = -1 1/2
or
first divide each side by 4:
(y+3) = 6/4
Now subtract 3 from each side:
y = -6/4 +3
y = -6/4 + 12/4
y = 6/4 = 3/2
